  • Dr. Samitier is currently ESSKA Teacher and Instructor of the Spanish Arthroscopy Association (AEA).

  • Dr Martínez Andrade is a nationally and internationally renowned trainer

Types of Fellowship

1 Year

  • Traumatologists via MIR or homologated in Spain.
  • Surgeons with demonstrable experience in advanced knee and shoulder arthroscopy procedures.
  • Participation in all team activities
  • 30,000 € gross for 1 year

6 Months

  • Traumatologists via MIR or homologated in Spain.
  • Surgeons with less experience, although the maximum benefit is for surgeons with some experience in arthroscopic techniques of the knee and shoulder.
  • Participation in all team activities
  • 15.000 € gross for 6 months

1 to 3 Months

  • Ideal for COT residents or foreign physicians with at least a medical degree accredited in Spain.
  • Participation in all team activities as assistants.

1 Without accreditation of the medical degree in Spain there is the possibility to rotate in our center as an observer in consultation and operating room.

2 To be eligible for the funded places, you must be fluent in Spanish, hold a recognised degree in medicine or a higher qualification at the time of application, and have a residence and work permit for Spain for the period covered by the application.

3 Recognition of the medical degree qualifies the holder to work as a medical and surgical assistant during the fellowship, but not to perform surgery or key parts of surgical procedures independently.

General requirements

  • Copy of ID card or passport.
  • Copy of the Medical Degree or equivalent degree approved in Spain*.
  • Copy of the Degree of Specialty in Traumatology and Orthopedic Surgery via MIR or the equivalent degree approved in Spain.
  • Membership card
  • Civil Liability Insurance Policy and last receipt of payment (minimum coverage of 500.000 € for fellowship of 6 and 12 months).
  • Health, death and accident insurance (can be taken out in your home country or in Spain) for the duration of your stay in the fellowship (required for foreign applicants).
  • Certificate of freedom from sexual offenses.
  • Certificate of freedom from criminal offenses.
  • Two letters of recommendation.
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • Motivation letter.
  • Summary of the surgical activity performed during the previous formative or professional stage (as assistant and first surgeon).
  • Residence and work permits for non-EU trainees wishing to apply for funded positions

Role of the Fellow

Mainly for Fellowship of 6 and 12 months

  • Facilitate the development of consultation and operating room activities.
  • Contribute to the creation of chapters, publications and other educational projects.
  • A scientific paper submitted to an indexed publication is the minimum requirement during the rotation.
  • The Fellow must have full availability including weekends for eventualities.
  • Fellows will enter on a rotating shift that includes floor pass and be part of the team’s on-call pool.
  • Senior Fellows will be responsible for training new Fellows in their role within the team activity.
  • No absences will be allowed except for justified causes.
  • In case the Fellow’s performance does not meet the high standard required, the stay will be terminated prematurely and the training certificate will not be awarded.

Carlo is a resident in Orthopaedics and Traumatology who trained in Milan at one of the most prestigious specialist centres in the field, the Istituto Ortopedico Gaetano Pini. Dr Scialpi is an active member of SIAGASCOT and ESSKA, reflecting his commitment to continuing professional development and research.

Jericó Vladimir Osorio Muñoz

Jericó is a specialist in orthopaedics and traumatology with clinical experience in Ecuador, where he obtained his medical degree from the Laica Eloy Alfaro University in Manabí, and subsequently in Argentina, where he completed his residency at the prestigious Iriarte Hospital in Quilmes, Buenos Aires.
