At Samitier Sports, we remain committed to medical excellence and continuing education. We are therefore proud to announce that Dr. Gonzalo Samitier, director of our center, participated as a lecturer in the prestigious international course ESSKA Advanced Knee Arthroscopy – All about Meniscus, held in Barcelona on September 4 and 5, 2025.
This meeting brought together some of the world’s most renowned knee surgery specialists, making it a benchmark event for orthopedic surgeons seeking to perfect their techniques in meniscal preservation and repair.
During the program, attendees were able to combine theory and practice in the laboratory, working on cadaver specimens to improve their skills in advanced meniscal suturing techniques, meniscectomies, and meniscus transplants.
Dr. Samitier participated with the presentation “How to suture a radial tear,” in which he explained step by step how to address one of the most complex meniscus injuries: radial tears. This type of injury, common in athletes and active people, poses a surgical challenge as it compromises the stability and function of the knee. Thanks to his experience in sports surgery and traumatology, Dr. Samitier shared his knowledge on how to optimize results and preserve the patient’s natural meniscus whenever possible.
Why is this type of training so important?
At Samitier Sports, we firmly believe that constant updating and contact with other elite professionals is key to offering our patients the best treatments. Conferences such as the ESSKA Meniscus Course allow us to share experiences, discuss international consensus, and train in advanced surgical techniques that are then directly transferred to clinical practice.
Commitment to sport and health
Dr. Samitier’s participation in this event reflects our center’s commitment to scientific advancement, surgical innovation, and quality care for athletes and federation members. Our goal is for each patient to recover from their injuries safely and return to sporting activity as soon as possible.
