The Quirónsalud Aribau Medical Centre, a leading facility in the heart of Barcelona, is taking a decisive step forward in its growth with the opening of a new consultation floor. The centre now occupies four floors of the building at 192 Aribau Street, adding 20 new consultation rooms to its healthcare provision. With this expansion, the centre increases its number of medical consultation rooms from 50 to 70 and now covers over 5,000 m². These new consultation rooms are expected to increase the centre’s capacity by approximately 77,000 visits by 2026, making it easier for patients to manage all their appointments and medical tests quickly and efficiently.
The new facilities stand out for their welcoming and bright design, with plenty of natural light and spaces designed to enhance the patient experience and the well-being of staff. In this new environment, orthopaedics and cardiology have been prioritised, two strategic areas in which the centre excels due to its high level of specialisation.
Dr Gonzalo Samitier Solis, a specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology and head of the department at the Quirónsalud Aribau Medical Centre, highlights the positive impact on care: “This expansion is not just a matter of space; it represents a qualitative leap in the way we care for our patients. Furthermore, the addition of new imaging equipment, such as MRI and ultrasound, consolidates our position as a leading team in orthopaedics right in the heart of Barcelona”.
Dr Antonio Berruezo, a cardiologist and head of the department at the Quirónsalud Aribau Medical Centre, notes: “Having a facility specifically designed for cardiovascular health enables us to offer faster and more efficient care pathways. Patients find everything they need in one place, with the confidence that they are being cared for by top-tier teams using the most advanced technology”.
New Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
This expansion is accompanied by a technological advancement: a new-generation Philips MR5000 1.5T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner. It features a high-performance design with a 55 cm field of view and allows for hours of uninterrupted scanning.
Benefits for patients:
- A wide 70 cm diameter inside the scanner tunnel. It accommodates patients weighing up to 250 kg, with improved ventilation and more pleasant lighting.
- Improved image field homogeneity, enhancing image quality.
- Greater patient comfort thanks to reduced noise levels. In addition, it allows for background music via compatible headphones and microphones.
- It features digital coils that simplify the performance of scans and reduce patient preparation time on the scanner.
- Closed-circuit television patient monitoring system for better patient supervision.
- Capable of performing all types of MRI scans, from the simplest to the most complex, and advances
Furthermore, the centre boasts a team of diagnostic imaging specialists renowned for their expertise and commitment to quality and prompt reporting of results.
With the addition of the new MRI scanner and the expansion of its facilities, Quirónsalud Aribau is not only growing in terms of floor space, but is also reaffirming its commitment to being the medical centre where science and compassionate care come together to provide the best possible care for every patient.
